The Stranglers are celebrating 40 years, yes 40 years! From the end of February and throughout March, the band will undertake a ’Ruby Anniversary’ tour across the UK consisting of a massive 22 dates.

Stranglers 600x381 - Stranglers no Strangers The Stranglers need no introduction. Making their mark in the early punk era, the band demonstrated over the years that they would not be limited by their origins and musically they evolved over multiple albums. Although Hugh Cornwell left the band in 1990, they have retained a relatively stable core, and as such fans will be able to recall all their favourites including ‘Duchess’, ‘No More Heroes’ and ‘Golden Brown’ when they return to the Ironworks on Thursday 27th February. The date is part of the band’s itinerary for their 40th anniversary year. From the end of February and throughout March, the band will undertake a ’Ruby Anniversary’ tour across the UK consisting of a massive 22 dates.

As has become customary in recent years, the tour kicks off north of the border with a trio of Scottish dates in Inverness, Glasgow and Dunfermline before heading south.

Tickets are available via www.IronworksVenue.com and catch The Stranglers on Facebook.

Chartered surveyor by day, music reviewer by night, and occasionally I get to use my camera. A strange mix, but one that I enjoy. A chance meeting in the queue for Bella in 2010 led to the opportunity to write for InvernessGigs; a far cry from the days of writing for a football fanzine back in the late 80s, early 90s. My interests lie between the mainstream, the emerging and the local. Increasingly I find that we have more than enough locally to entertain us to necessitate a trip south. I’m always happy to give a listen, whatever the genre. Inverness has a plethora of talent, all of which I am more than keen to write about. If it encourages just one person to make the effort to listen to some new music I’ll be happy. You can contact Frank direct via frankieboyfin@gmail.com
