Delta Mainline play Mad Hatters

Edinburgh’s Delta Mainline play Mad Hatters on Saturday the 26th of October.

The seven piece alternative outfit have been garnering plaudits for their debut album ‘Oh! Enlightened’ released in May of this year with The Scotsman, Daily Express and Uncut all rating the album highly. They’ve been championed by Lauren Laverne on 6 Music and the release day for the album was accompanied by a live session and interview with Vic Galloway on Radio Scotland.

Delta Mainline came known to us with the emergence of their 2010 EP ‘In a World Full of Madness, the Simple Joy of Melody Can Pull You Through’ (Rehab Sound). ‘Oh! Enlightened’ was crafted at Chem 19 Studios where the likes of Admiral Fallow, Arab Strap and Idlewild have all recorded. Clearly following in a rich vein of Scottish music Delta Mainline should prove to be a compelling prospect for the future.

Promising a ‘healthy dose of psychedelia’, not mention other enticing words such as ‘atmospherics’ and ‘soundscapes’ they should be a sure fire hit in Mad Hatters and one that you miss at your peril. However don’t let the references to psychedelia trick you into thinking this is going to be a night of shoe gazing and guitar noodling, tracks such as ‘Misinformation’ and ‘Florentine Regime’ should pack more than enough punch to get heads nodding.

Check out their very impressive website for more details on the band.

I've always loved music and spent my late teens and early twenties playing guitar in various bands on Lewis and Aberdeen. Other than playing in some truly terrifying pubs in Aberdeen not much came of it and life became focused on family and having a 'proper' job. Inverness Gigs is an outlet for me to quell my inner frustrated musician and the caliber of local acts has even inspired me to take my own music more seriously again. Who knows, one day I might venture back on stage under the fierce scrutiny of an Inverness Gigs reviewer! You can contact Toby direct at Toby@Igi.gs
