A review of Fake Major at the Seedling stage, Belladrum on Saturday the 3rd of August.
Already having backing from other Scottish bands such as Twin Atlantic and Fatherson (a few of whom were milling about in the crowd during the set) is a big deal for any band, and a sure sign that Fake Major may just be the next Scottish band we will all fall in love with.
For me anyway, their set was everything I love about Scottish music and they’re a band I’ve been desperate to catch for a while – I can assure you they did not disappoint. With beautiful vocals from David McGinty and Richard Ferguson that could make anyone’s heart melt, they captivated the ever increasing number of people filing into the tent to catch a piece of the action.
Their music has a quality to it that allows you to completely lose yourself in their world. It seems I’m not the only one who thinks so with a collection of people down the front who appeared to be singing along with every word and displaying a lot of admiration for the band.
They played a selection of songs from their EP ‘Have Plenty of Fun’ which they joked was “absolutely brilliant – the best EP that came out this year.” They may have only been joking, however I do feel there is an element of the truth in this. If you didn’t catch their set, make sure you check them out and go see them next time they’re around.
