A review of The Lafontaines at the Hot House Stage , Belladrum, 2nd of August Belladrum.

Speaking to Kerr Okan briefly before The LaFontaines took to the stage in the Hot House, he seemed to be concerned they wouldn’t have a good turnout – any doubts must have been banished when the tent filled and everyone obeyed his every command. Within minutes of them being on stage the tent was bouncing and singing along in all the right places.
I almost want to say there were no highlights to their set as every second was a highlight. Kerr wanted to “start the party” and that they very much did. Their set included a couple of new songs including their new single “All She Know” which is due out soon – this had a much mellower feel to it than some of their old favourites.
Noting they haven’t been up north in a while, Kerr asked if anyone remembered their live favourite “Pon De Fonts” – how anyone could possibly forget that song is beyond me. Getting everyone sitting down on the floor before the massive burst of energy and making the tent bounce solidly for the next few minutes.
They also played crowd favourites such as “Light Up The Background”, “Paperchase” and ended on “Shark In The Water”. With a mixture of their incredible songs, unrelenting energy and their charm – there’s no doubt they put their mark on Belladrum. Definitely one of the highlights of the day, and dare I say it ahead of day two, possibly of the entire weekend. The LaFontaines keep their title of ‘the most exciting band to come from Scotland.’
