A review of Garden Stage openers Be Like Pablo at Belladrum on August the 3rd 2013
Confetti still lying around on the ground from the night before, it was time for Be Like Pablo to kick things off for the final day of Belladrum. What felt like half the people from their hometown of Forres headed down to the Garden stage for moral support, and because they knew they were guaranteed a good time!
Despite Karen Johnston [keys/vocals] telling me later in the day that she was so nervous she wanted to cry at the end of the set, nerves didn’t show in any of them during the set. They exceeded expectations and managed to make the very hungover collection of people standing before them dance along to their undeniably catchy tunes.
In my recent interview with them, we discussed that their music is generally all round “fun” – and that’s probably the best way to describe their entire set. There wasn’t a dull moment, there was singing, swaying, clicking and clapping along all the way through the set to keep the crowd involved.
They charmed the crowd with “The Post-It Song”, “Julianne”, “I Can’t Dance” and “Someone To Love”. Before leaving, they introduced the talented Kuda to the stage to perform their final song, and new single, “Without The Pain” with them.
