TBP Rockness 2 thumb - Let’s Get Going

The “icing on the cake” , the final announcement of Rockness introduces a great smattering of talent to the already impressive bill. It includes London Grammar, the Hannah Reid led band promise “soul drenched, chill-out-esque pop music to lift your heart”. Or to steal a quote from The Guardian “just indie enough for Zane Lowe, just dancey enough for Annie Mac”. Winning Best Live Act of Glastonbury two years in a row,swing/hip-hop duo, The Correspondants bring more than a fair share of chaos to the proceedings. Jakob Banks has had his voice likened to Ray Charles, Marvin Gaye and Louis Armstrong combined with a line in emotional poignant lyrics that have reviewers describing his live act as spine tingling.

Fatherson thumb - Let’s Get Going

Also on the bill are two acts that have been in the Inverness area recently, although the similarities end there for Fatherson and Public Broadcasting Service.PBS have a masterful sense of creativity that has not gone unmissed by reviewers of debut album ‘Inform – Educate – Entertain’; “Artful and evocative” or a “A sampladelic delight” depending on your choice of broadsheet. Fatherson on the other hand the bands rock/ indie/ folk styling have continued to win fans, and with the release of their debut album imminent, 2013 promises much for the boys from Ayrshire.

Veterans of the local dance scene, Filth DJs, make a welcome return to the festival and making their debut are joined by young guns Them & Us, aka Mark and Liam Mackenzie.

Snafu also brings a party to a party with “the love child of Delphic and Daft Punk” Fenech-Soler, the “DJ’s DJ” Hernna Cattaneo, San Franciscan MiMosa, returning Bigfoot’s Tea Party, and finishing off their line-up The Snafu Residents.George Russell of Snafu said of Rockness: “ The memories come flooding back as soon as you arrive and RockNess is like a second home for many people who have now grown up with the festival. It’s great for Snafu to be back and contribute once again to what will be a fantastic weekend for all.”

A lifelong passion for music matched with a geeky fascination for social media and websites resulted in the creation of Inverness Gigs back in 2010. The aim of the site is to help promote, support and generally raise awareness of the local music scene. In fairness fifteen years of being a psychiatric nurse never prepared me for the experiences that we have had over the last few years and the evolution of Inverness Gigs has certainly been a steep learning curve.I currently write (less and less), edit and co-ordinate most of the Inverness Gigs activities.Occasionally seen on Twitter, and  LinkedIn, if you want get in touch you can contact me via our Facebook page.
