Wick’s BFest 2013 have announce the initial line-up for the festival to be held on the 17th of August.

Following on from the announcement that Dave Vitty aka ‘Comedy’ Dave will be hosting the event (see here), BFest 2013 have followed up with a strong list of acts that are to play.

The Xcerts have recently supported Lower than Atlantis and five dates in Europe with Biffy Clyro. The band were described by The List as “laying down a royal racket that ticks every box of instantaneousness” and are currently finishing off the follow up of 2011’s ‘Scatterbrain album.

Anderson, McGinty, Webster, Ward and Fisher, recent visitors to Inverness having played Bogbain Farm,  have raised their profile with an impressive collaboration with Dougie Maclean on ‘Caledonia’. The band challenges convention jumping from genres and mixing up instruments to an impressive degree, which result in a both intriguing and impressive live set.

A little bit of Britpop comes from Echobelly who were nominated for best British newcomer at the 1995 Brits. Expect a hit laden set with the likes of ‘I Can’t Imagine the World Without Me,’ ‘Insomniac,’ ‘King of the Kerb,’ and ‘Bellyache.’ . Talking of hits, we have blues and soul cover experts and local legends Scooty and the Skyhooks. They know what they are doing and they do it well evidenced by sell out gigs at The Ironworks a strong CV of festival performances as well as support Jools Holland in 2012.

OK Social Club have just released their debut album ‘Nothing in Common’and will no doubt have a familiar sound having had tracks played on MTV Rocks, The Sunday Brunch playlist on Channel 4, Hollyoaks, E4 and Sky Sports-Soccer AM. The Edinburgh based band are based in Edinburgh and are no strangers to the party atmosphere having been selected to play at Edinburgh’s 2012 Hogmanay celebrations. Finding Albert the Dumfries indie five-piece were described by Jim Gellatly as “A band that really are destined for greatness – future superstars…may just be Scotland’s best kept secret, but not for long.” The  final band currently announced are Brown Bear and the Bandits who have been hotly and consistently supported by those in the know.

The headliner and additional acts are still to be announced so please keep an eye of the BFest 2013 Facebook page and try the BFest website for tickets.

A lifelong passion for music matched with a geeky fascination for social media and websites resulted in the creation of Inverness Gigs back in 2010. The aim of the site is to help promote, support and generally raise awareness of the local music scene. In fairness fifteen years of being a psychiatric nurse never prepared me for the experiences that we have had over the last few years and the evolution of Inverness Gigs has certainly been a steep learning curve.I currently write (less and less), edit and co-ordinate most of the Inverness Gigs activities.Occasionally seen on Twitter, and  LinkedIn, if you want get in touch you can contact me via our Facebook page.
