March sees live music combine with comedy to launch The Friday Floor Show, a weekly event at Mad Hatters,Inverness, starting Friday the 1st.

As Hootananny moves towards it’s 10th anniversary in June, the venue is looking to bring the best of both worlds with comedy opening the evening for the consistently high quality emerging music talent.

Hoots have in the past played host to top comedians including Fred MacAulay and Sarah Millican and with new event plans to draw some of the UK’s top emerging professional comics. As part of the Friday Floor Show launch this month sees Neil McFarlane, Phil Buckley, Al McWilliam and Dave Williams take their turn at opening the evenings.

Hootananny programmer Steve Robertson said “We are keen to reintroduce comedy to the venue and give our audiences a Friday night to remember every week by having some of the best emerging comics and top bands from not only the local area and Scotland but the UK take part in the Friday Floor Show”.

A lifelong passion for music matched with a geeky fascination for social media and websites resulted in the creation of Inverness Gigs back in 2010. The aim of the site is to help promote, support and generally raise awareness of the local music scene. In fairness fifteen years of being a psychiatric nurse never prepared me for the experiences that we have had over the last few years and the evolution of Inverness Gigs has certainly been a steep learning curve.I currently write (less and less), edit and co-ordinate most of the Inverness Gigs activities.Occasionally seen on Twitter, and  LinkedIn, if you want get in touch you can contact me via our Facebook page.
