Inverness Gigs has been shortlisted for Best Use of Digital Media in the Highland and Island Media Awards 2013.

Supporters of the site will know that 2012 has been a challenging year for Inverness Gigs with regards to the website and we were very pleased to re-launch the site in August. The revamped website was designed and constructed, in conjunction with Canary Dwarf, a local award winning design, development and marketing company.

Short-listing for the award acknowledges all the support and hard-work that has put into the site since it’s creation in 2010, and we wish to take the opportunity to thank everybody involved in making it a success.

The category that we have been selected for “Best Use of Digital Media” which is for representation of Highlands and Islands news or features on the web and will be judged on content and presentation. We are joined on the shortlist by some impressive competitors in both the Stornoway Gazette and Shetland News.

Winners will be announced at the Highlands and Islands Press Ball, which is celebrating its Silver jubilee and is being held in Inverness on Friday 1 February.

One of the best ways to keep up to date with the website is by joining the Inverness Gigs mailing list.

A lifelong passion for music matched with a geeky fascination for social media and websites resulted in the creation of Inverness Gigs back in 2010. The aim of the site is to help promote, support and generally raise awareness of the local music scene. In fairness fifteen years of being a psychiatric nurse never prepared me for the experiences that we have had over the last few years and the evolution of Inverness Gigs has certainly been a steep learning curve.I currently write (less and less), edit and co-ordinate most of the Inverness Gigs activities.Occasionally seen on Twitter, and  LinkedIn, if you want get in touch you can contact me via our Facebook page.
