The Ironworks Easter Showcase, to be hosted on the 31st of March and the 1st of April, have announced their first tranche of acts.
As soon as the Christmas day crackers are popped, eyes start to turn towards Easter which is great news if you like creme eggs. So just as the euphoria of the vast array of talent on show at the Winter showcases eases, the first acts for the Easter Showcase have been announced.
The 31st of March sees the Whisky River Band return to the Ironworks, they have been recording the follow up of The Taming of Me this month, so no doubt it will be a good opportunity to hear how the new tunes have developed. Also on the bill will be, the as versatile as she is talented, Emma Shearer.
The next night sees Red Kites journey up the road, following their Scottish Christmas mini-tour that took them to Hootananny. The guys continue to impress with Moteh Parrott’s vocals, strong lyrics and more than a grasp of a good hook. So whether it’s the emotional overtones of the poignant “Beat in Time” or bouncing along to odes to past cars, a good time is undoubted. Dougie Burns wellearning the term troubadour, is certainly a foot tappin’, bluesy storyteller, his appearance at the Summer Showcase may have surprised some, but he wan over the crowd and his return will be welcomed. They will be joined by Blue Gum Ears who we can speak about with even less authority than we normally do, but given the amount of music that they have on sound cloud and the general vibe, will they earn the term “hidden gem”?
Certainly more acts to be announced with the showcase retaining the 8 acts a night format.
Hot off the press: Additions to Sunday night are Against All Flags, Naked Red, Red Ronson and MIR. Coming along on the Monday are Alice Bentley and The Cat & The Hat.
Tickets on sale from Friday the 25th of January via www.Ironworksvenue.com or directly from one of the acts.
