He Slept on 57 have been relatively quite recently but have bounced back on the scene with the release of the video for the indie pop tune “Katy, Bar The Door”. The track will be available for free download soon, whilst also being part of an EP release expected in 2013. Stuart, Kevin and Kyle are hoping to build on the momentum and plaudits gained for their 2010 release “ A Glow From the Night Light”.

Rick Fulton, of the Daily Record commented “Post Hardcore or alternative indie ? However you care to describe the Inverness trio,He Slept on 57, their music is mesmerising”. The trio will be playing Inverness as part of a series of dates including the New Market Bar,Thurso on the 12th of October and having the unenviable task of competing for an audience in Glasgow, (Nice n’Sleazys) on the 26th of September, when both Twin Atlantic and The Killers are in town.

Last Summer Effect’s quiet spell has been less noticeable, having not played in Inverness since the Summer Showcase, where they shared billing with Whisky River Band and Emma Mitchell. However it was an impressive appearance at Belladrum 2012 that was most noteworthy, where their brand of indie-rock combined with a high energy stage show, which had everything from bare torsos to dancing foxes, that wan new fans .

Another band with a busy October,Last Summer Effect have played Perth earlier this month and have further gigs in Glasgow followed by a return to Hootananny for the Halloween gig.

He Slept on 57, Last Summer Effect and Ewan Mcconologue play Mad Hatters on the 13th of October.

A lifelong passion for music matched with a geeky fascination for social media and websites resulted in the creation of Inverness Gigs back in 2010. The aim of the site is to help promote, support and generally raise awareness of the local music scene. In fairness fifteen years of being a psychiatric nurse never prepared me for the experiences that we have had over the last few years and the evolution of Inverness Gigs has certainly been a steep learning curve.I currently write (less and less), edit and co-ordinate most of the Inverness Gigs activities.Occasionally seen on Twitter, and  LinkedIn, if you want get in touch you can contact me via our Facebook page.
