Featuring the best DJs and producers in the Highlands, Ally was given the unenviable task of programming the slots after meeting up Ginno at Rockness 2011. Initially Ally and Ryan were asked to play a couple of guest mixes, although for 2012,Ally explains “This year he has asked me to program a 3 hour Friday and Saturday dance show which i delighted to do.” The remit is a simple one, he explains “my aim is to get as many people listening to the shows as possible and get people talking about it”.

So how do start programming such an event? Ally was clear that he wanted both an eclectic mix of genres and sets that were exclusive to Monster FM. This includes Filth Djs first ever mix and the likes of Polymath, Them & Us and The LED who Ally adds are “producing great music so was important to have guys like that involved as well”.

Trying to get Ally to choose his favourite mix is a challenge “I’ve listened to all the mixes already and I`ve not got any favourites as there all quality as expected.” However, with regards to new talent he explains “There is 2 local young guys new on the scene that go by the name Stereo Crookz who are producing some great music who i`m pretty excited about”.

Ally is fortunate to contributes to the lineup in two guises he explains: My Teknique mix will be a Breakz mix and I`ve also done my first House mix with tunes from guys likes of Disclosure, Audiojack, Justin Martin etc. as i`m really into that UK bass house sound at the moment. The SoundClash Dj, 2 hour, show will be a full on mash up of bass which you would hear us play out”

To celebrate the shows there will be a party on Sat 13th September at Karma Lounge which will feature Djs from the show so watch this space for full line up and details.

A lifelong passion for music matched with a geeky fascination for social media and websites resulted in the creation of Inverness Gigs back in 2010. The aim of the site is to help promote, support and generally raise awareness of the local music scene. In fairness fifteen years of being a psychiatric nurse never prepared me for the experiences that we have had over the last few years and the evolution of Inverness Gigs has certainly been a steep learning curve.I currently write (less and less), edit and co-ordinate most of the Inverness Gigs activities.Occasionally seen on Twitter, and  LinkedIn, if you want get in touch you can contact me via our Facebook page.
