Adrian Telfer talks about his music and his forthcoming gig at the Summer Showcase on the 12th of July.
Last time we talked to you (in September) you discussed plans for an EP, amongst other things, what have you been up to?
My EP is nearly ready with 3 new songs. It is called ‘Songs from the decks of Dipper’ and will be available at the Showcase. This is a build up to a new Album which is in the pipeline. I still have a few tickets left for showcase no 1 and if you buy 2 from me a free copy of the EP will be yours on the night! Just send me a message through Facebook to get yours.
This will be the second time you have played the Ironworks (the first being supporting Salsa Celtica) how are you feeling about getting back on to the stage at the venue?
I am once again over the moon to be back at the Ironworks. Supporting Salsa Celtica was a privilege as I have been a follower of theirs for many years and to return to the venue as part of the Showcase will be great.
What should people expect from your performance?
Look out for laughs and tears as I take a trip down my set list. My songs have grown from life love and loss. Hopefully no whinging about my on-going sore back! Codeine rules!
Which of your tracks do you think best represents you and why?
‘Sing My Song’ has become my ‘Babylon’ certainly on my west coast gigs it is expected and I never tire of playing it… (slight lyrical adjustment on each play helps!). It best displays my way of writing and style.
We think you are going to be the first act of the first Summer Showcase, what are your thoughts on the format and the bands that you are going to be playing with?
I think the format is great and gives the many local acts a fantastic platform to bring their music to a wider audience. I don’t mind playing first I find the ‘waiting to go on’ is the only nerve jangling time so the sooner the better really… and that will let me relax and enjoy the other bands.
If you could only go to one other Summer showcase which would it be and why?
No 6 would be my choice. I haven’t seen the Little Mill of Happiness since I supported them in Hoots and would like to see KOBI again.
Have you got anything else to plug?
I have loads of gigs booked for the rest of the summer season from Belladrum to The Lochmaddy Hotel (July 21st) you can see my full gig list here.
Tickets for all of the Summer Showcases can be bought by emailing us at invernessgigs@gmail.com or directly via www.IronworksVenue.com.
