Bat For Lashes is to perform at the Ironworks, Thursday 18th October, 2012

Coming off the back of a summer jam packed with festival appearances,Brit Award and Mercury Prize nominee Bat For Lashes will be coming to Inverness to perform at the Ironworks, one stop of what will be her first UK tour in two years.

Despite being barely out of her twenties, Bat For Lashes (real name Natasha Khan) has an almost timeless sound, swirling somewhere between the modern, synthesised beats of today and the experimental, psychedelic sound of the sixties, with plenty of everything in between. No wonder critics have praised both of her albums; indeed, to have your only two albums both get nominated for the Mercury Prize (in 2007 and 2009), and to have Brit nominations and an Ivor Novello to your name is most definitely a good sign.

Her most recent album, Two Suns is quite a departure from debut Fur and Gold, with far more electronic influences thanks partly to the involvement of Brooklyn’s Yeasayer providing bass and beat programming, and also features a duet with the legendary Scott Walker on the record’s final track ‘The Big Sleep’.

Tickets go on sale at 9am on Friday 15th June via www.IronworksVenue.com

A lifelong passion for music matched with a geeky fascination for social media and websites resulted in the creation of Inverness Gigs back in 2010. The aim of the site is to help promote, support and generally raise awareness of the local music scene. In fairness fifteen years of being a psychiatric nurse never prepared me for the experiences that we have had over the last few years and the evolution of Inverness Gigs has certainly been a steep learning curve.I currently write (less and less), edit and co-ordinate most of the Inverness Gigs activities.Occasionally seen on Twitter, and  LinkedIn, if you want get in touch you can contact me via our Facebook page.
