What don’t we know about you guys, that we should?

Apparently we don’t go down too well with  20-30 year old male Rizzle Kicks fans, it’s a shame but we can live with it.

How does it feel to be playing the showcase for the first time?

It’s exciting! We’ve been to watch them before and they’ve been brilliant events, we’re honoured to be a part of it at last.

It’s great to be given the opportunity to play the Easter Showcase, the talent that has been on show on the previous nights have been immense and so we were honoured to be asked to join such an eclectic line-up at a time when the Inverness music scene is showing such potential.

We have been playing for some time as a band and have been really eager to be involved in the showcases since they started. Now we have been given a place, it is now our opportunity to show that we are worthy of it.

If someone has not seen you guys play before, how would you encourage them to come and see your set?

With such a buzz about rock at the moment especially after Black Stone Cherry coming to town, and local bands such as Estrella and ROADWAY doing so well, we hope that we can add something to the mix. So if you have not heard us before, and even if you have, please come and see our own brand of rock tunes.

Which one of the other acts, on the bill, would you most like to see and why?

The Frues come to mind immediately, but as a band our musical tastes are so varied so the mix of music on offer really does appeal, whether that’s Liam and Mark’s project Them and Us or local metal legends Zombie Militia

Who are your one’s to watch from the local scene at the moment?

We each have very eclectic music tastes so really it is difficult to say. However, our fellow support at the Fatherson gig, Purple Divide, are doing really well at the moment, and we are looking forward to hearing more from The Parma Violets with their album looming, too.

What does 2012 hold for you guys?

We are waiting to confirm our summer plans, with a couple of outdoor gigs to be announced very soon . A wee trip up to Thurso the The Newmarket in May and a couple of invernessgigs.

We are also keen to get into the studio, following the success of our last EP, so that will be on the agenda in the next few months too.

Have you got anything else to plug?

Our EP is out now ‘Say what you’re thinking’ and is available here. You can check us out via www.lastsummereffect.com. We are also on the next Netsounds Unsigned Podcast, and we are grateful of that Murray and Jamie who gave us the opportunity.  Oh and please get to the Showcase early to show us your support.

Last Summer Effect play the Ironworks, Inverness on the 7th of April, 2012. Tickets are available via www.Ironworksvenue.com. All the last Easter Showcase news is here.

A lifelong passion for music matched with a geeky fascination for social media and websites resulted in the creation of Inverness Gigs back in 2010. The aim of the site is to help promote, support and generally raise awareness of the local music scene. In fairness fifteen years of being a psychiatric nurse never prepared me for the experiences that we have had over the last few years and the evolution of Inverness Gigs has certainly been a steep learning curve.I currently write (less and less), edit and co-ordinate most of the Inverness Gigs activities.Occasionally seen on Twitter, and  LinkedIn, if you want get in touch you can contact me via our Facebook page.
