Indeed it should come as no surprise that Cherri Fosphate are playing the evening, given Netsounds support of the band last year and being identified as one of the podcasts’ “12 for 12”. So we caught up with the band for a little chat.

You are renowned for your infectious, poppy indie tunes (for the uninitiated please listen to ‘Bugsy’), drawing similarities from The Fratellis to The Arctic Monkeys, where do you draw your influences from?

We draw influences from Pheonix, Frightened Rabbit, We Were Promised Jetpacks, Joy Formidable, Two Door Cinema Club, Cinematics, Bloc Party, Arcitc Monkeys, Kings Of Leon, The Maccabees, Razorlight.

Having received  some very kind words from the likes of Jim Gellatly along with numerous “Ones to watch” lists for 2012, how do you respond to the positive feedback?

We would just like to say Thank You to everyone who has supported and enjoys our music, and to have support from folks like Jim Gellatly, Ally McCrae and Jamie and Murray from Netsounds Unsigned is unbelievable Thank You!!!!

You have already started booking festivals this year (The Big Stooshie) what are your plans for this year?

This year we plan on touring about the country as much as possible and playing on as many festivals as possible and also maybe get our album recorded.

How are you feeling about playing Inverness?

We are really really excited!!!

Have you got anything else to plug?

Check us out on Facebook and you can download 5 tunes for free including our new single ‘Passion’.

Thanks to Cherri Fosphate for their time.

A lifelong passion for music matched with a geeky fascination for social media and websites resulted in the creation of Inverness Gigs back in 2010. The aim of the site is to help promote, support and generally raise awareness of the local music scene. In fairness fifteen years of being a psychiatric nurse never prepared me for the experiences that we have had over the last few years and the evolution of Inverness Gigs has certainly been a steep learning curve.I currently write (less and less), edit and co-ordinate most of the Inverness Gigs activities.Occasionally seen on Twitter, and  LinkedIn, if you want get in touch you can contact me via our Facebook page.
