Midnight Glory are finishing 2011 on a high with a slot at the WInter Showcases, so what does guitar year for the band, Michael Kay, think of the year?
What’s your involvement in the music scene?
Gig goer I guess and musician in a band, Midnight Glory.
How has 2011 been for you musically?
For new music, good, such as Fatherson. The start of the year living in Edinburgh I spent most of my time writing songs that I wanted to hear, as I couldn’t find a band that I really liked anymore or that I never overplayed. Coming home over the summer I started writing songs with my band mate Graham Brown for Midnight Glory. Personally, for my bands music its been a good start.
What was the best local act this year. and why?For me its Graham Brown, even though I am the better one at writing songs between us (jokes). But really, he has had such an amazing year. As it was about this time last year he played in front of people for the first time at a open mic night in Edinburgh. Then not even a year later playing main stage at the Iron Works with Matt Cardle.
What was the best non-local act that you have seen this year?
Fatherson have just been my favourite band this year.
What was your favourite music experience this year?
For Midnight Glory it was playing Hoots and recording at Lofi Studio in Glasgow.
What do you what from Santa?
Honestly. . . I just want one of his flying Reindeer.
What is your hopes for the music scene in 2012?
Just hope more people come to have fun really. Also for Midnight Glory, people will finally hear our recorded songs.
What are your plans for 2012?
Well Midnight Glory have a busy start to the year and just to gig and have fun. Because thats what its all about. Maybe an Ep if we feel cool enough.
