As indicated in your promo material: Folk + Rock + Blues = Frues, it seems like an easy equation, how does that work in the reality of creating and performing songs?

We base our music around the styles we collectively love and enjoy and it’s this enjoyment we hope transcends into our performances – we always have to be the first ones dancing!

Your hard work of 2010 really seems to be paying of this year, what are your highlights of this year so far?

So many highlights to mention; the GoNorth Festival tour has taken us to Wickerman, Tartan Heart and this weekend Wizard Festival. We’ve been lucky to share bills with bands, both local and established, who are an inspiration to us all.  The Rockhopper sessions and Kids of Kolkata gig at Strathpeffer are also big highlights.

What are your ambitions for the next 12 months?

We’ll be hitting the studio towards the end of the year and continue touring and evolving our sound

What’s you feelings about your experiences of Live and Unsigned   (a competition that saw them go further than any other local band)?

It was a great experience to play the Glasgow Concert Hall and Newcastle, one which forged a tighter bond between the band.  Despite not winning it gave us the opportunity to play on a bigger stage and take in a wealth of new talent.

Have you got anything to plug?

This weekends roadtrip will see us playing the Newmarket bar in Thurso (a cracking wee venue) on Friday.  Then it’s the Banshee stage at Wizard festival on Saturday and we should just have the energy left to rock it up at  Drummonds in Aberdeen on Sunday!

A shout out of course to invernessGiGs continued excellent work! (no money changed hands, yet – iGiGs)

Thanks very much to The Frues for their time.

A lifelong passion for music matched with a geeky fascination for social media and websites resulted in the creation of Inverness Gigs back in 2010. The aim of the site is to help promote, support and generally raise awareness of the local music scene. In fairness fifteen years of being a psychiatric nurse never prepared me for the experiences that we have had over the last few years and the evolution of Inverness Gigs has certainly been a steep learning curve.I currently write (less and less), edit and co-ordinate most of the Inverness Gigs activities.Occasionally seen on Twitter, and  LinkedIn, if you want get in touch you can contact me via our Facebook page.
