Rhythmnreel’s June Update

Hi boys and girls, here is Rhythmnreel’s June catchup.

Phew, we are now starting to get really busy again. There are some great gigs at summer festivals coming soon – Wickerman, Belladrum and Wizard are all being rhythmnreeled. There is also gala dances in Kinlochbervie, Applecross, Kyleakin, Achitltibuie, Helmsdale… it really is an outstanding set of gigs over the summer. We are so looking forwards to it. If anyone manages to take photos or videos of the band upload them to facebook or youtube and send us a link. (Rhythmnreels facebook page)

We don’t often get to play in and around Inverness and Ross-shire. We had our own weekend of the flood at the Ironworks during the Scottish Open’s unfortunate washout. Terrible shame for what is going to be a great attraction to Inverness over next couple of years. It’s always a pleasure to play at the Ironworks.

We are delighted to be supporting the Kids of Kolkata trust in Strathpeffer in August. We’d be delighted to see you there to raise some money for a very good cause. Details for the gig are here and tickets can be bought here.

We have now started work on our next CD – two tunes and a song have been recorded. We are hoping to get back into studio later in the year with a final stab early next year. It takes an amazing amount of time to get these things organised, but we hope it’ll be worth it!

We are now kitted out with new black kilts for a smarter look. Let us know what you think. We’ve had some good feedback already.

We’ve also got a new logo with hoodies and t-shirts to match in some great vuibrant colours. These can be seen on facebook, www.rhythmnreel.co.uk and we’ll have supplies at gigs over the summer. Respect to Scourie crew who have shamelessly stolen the logo and made their own merchandise! They never fail to entertain.

Finally, many congratulations go out to our beloved Catriona who married Rupert at the beginning of July. We all had a lovely day celebrating their wedding on a beautiful summer’s day.

What more can I say – new merchandise, new look kilted band, a CD in its beginning stages and a summer of gigs await. Life is good!

A lifelong passion for music matched with a geeky fascination for social media and websites resulted in the creation of Inverness Gigs back in 2010. The aim of the site is to help promote, support and generally raise awareness of the local music scene. In fairness fifteen years of being a psychiatric nurse never prepared me for the experiences that we have had over the last few years and the evolution of Inverness Gigs has certainly been a steep learning curve.I currently write (less and less), edit and co-ordinate most of the Inverness Gigs activities.Occasionally seen on Twitter, and  LinkedIn, if you want get in touch you can contact me via our Facebook page.
