Former YMCA warden, Stu Who? (we can only guess that that’s his stage name!)6481 medium thumb - Just Laugh Comedy - Edinburgh Fringe Special has been treading the comedy boards for the past 20 odd years. “His machine-gun delivery and inexhaustible material bank are guaranteed to make you laugh like a drain” remarks the Daily Record. Building up a vast list of TV and Radio experience that has seen him work with some of the biggest names in TV including Ant and Dec and er Zig and Zag. Talking in an interview he remarked “I never regret anything. I’d like to be filthy, stinking rich, but I think if I’d carried on doing TV stuff I’d have ended up divorced, a recovering coke addict in The Priory, talking shite like the rest of all them. And no longer doing comedy.” (we knew those puppets could be dodgy,  but not that bad). There is a great contradiction with Stu Who? who’s increasing years contrast with his comedy style or as The Skinny described in a 2009 review) “Deliciously adolescent, this self-confessed ‘Ned’ boasts humour that’s filthy and clever”

Talking of contradictions, also on the bill is Jay Lafferty who according to the Herald Scotland review “is the kind of girl you could take home to your granny until she opens her mouth”.Indeed, Jay describes her comedy “like a chocolate coated hand grenade”. A style that has wan her plaudits including being the runner-up of Scottish comedian of the Year 2007. Certainly (by her own admission), being female helps her hand out and she clearly plays on perception. Fresh from her T in the Park appearance,  it will be interesting to see how she responds to Hush, we look forward to it.

The first double act to take to Hush will be Gary & Stu with a combined total of over 30 years experience in comedy with a clear talent in improvising or, as the Just Laugh website describes, “it’s improv improved”. The result is ‘a riotous, madcap anything-may-happen burst of chaos'(The Scotsman).

Ably compered by Bruce Fummey, a man who needs no introduction (but by saying that he gets an introduction, so therefore the introduction is that he gets an introduction, by claiming he needs no introduction, which quite clealry results in a hopeless contradiction of an introduction for a man who we initially claimed need no introduction). Bruce Fummey is funny.

A lifelong passion for music matched with a geeky fascination for social media and websites resulted in the creation of Inverness Gigs back in 2010. The aim of the site is to help promote, support and generally raise awareness of the local music scene. In fairness fifteen years of being a psychiatric nurse never prepared me for the experiences that we have had over the last few years and the evolution of Inverness Gigs has certainly been a steep learning curve.I currently write (less and less), edit and co-ordinate most of the Inverness Gigs activities.Occasionally seen on Twitter, and  LinkedIn, if you want get in touch you can contact me via our Facebook page.
