In an interesting addition to the current comedy circuit in in Inverness, Hush (Academy Street) will be hosting a Just Laugh Comedy Night on the 30th of June at 8pm. Hush appears to be ideally set to create an intimate styled comedy night, moving toward the comedy club style not experienced by the Inverness audience.

Compered by Just Laugh owner , Bruce Fummey who “is one of the bright stars of Scottish Stand up Comedy”, we know this as fact as it says so on his website! Described as having a cheeky and vivacious approach to comedy he has performed five runs at the Edinburgh Fringe, He retains his reputation of being the finest comedian on the Afro Celtic comedy circuit!

Also on the bill is Mark Nelson winner of the inaugural Scottish Comedian of the Year Award in 2006, Chortle described last years show as having “some insightful and oftentimes dark material (which) is tempered by a certain lighthearted playfulness” (full review) indeed The Skinny noted that “from his black-hearted humour and his no-holds-barred topicality to his stiff-jawed, narrow-eyed demeanour and distinctly Scottish sardonic style, it’s easy to imagine Mark Nelson plagued by comparisons to a certain ginger grouch…..though, Nelson proves himself a talent not to be overshadowed by his better-known counterpart” (full review). It certainly will be an interesting evening to see how far the Inverness crowd’s barriers can be pushed.

Teddy, is an interesting guy having wan Scottish Variety Awards Best Up and Coming Comedian 2010 (with a slew of finalist and runner-up awards for previous Scottish Comedian of the Years awards). His one liners (please look here) stack up well against kings of the genre such as Jimmy Carr.

The final act and gaining plaudits from Kevin Bridges,is Irishman  and Frankie Boyle’s regular writing partner Jim Muir who will be bringing one of his alter egos Danny Angelo.

A lifelong passion for music matched with a geeky fascination for social media and websites resulted in the creation of Inverness Gigs back in 2010. The aim of the site is to help promote, support and generally raise awareness of the local music scene. In fairness fifteen years of being a psychiatric nurse never prepared me for the experiences that we have had over the last few years and the evolution of Inverness Gigs has certainly been a steep learning curve.I currently write (less and less), edit and co-ordinate most of the Inverness Gigs activities.Occasionally seen on Twitter, and  LinkedIn, if you want get in touch you can contact me via our Facebook page.
