The inaugral Inverness Whisky festival kicks off very soon indeed (8th and 9th of April : via www.thebooth.co.uk) and they have now announced the musicians that will be performing and complimenting the good food and music on offer:
A strong emphasis on Ceilidh Music starting with The Bogbain All Star Ceilidh Band featuring Fiona Dalgetty, David Nesbet, Dougie Beck and freinds. They will be joined by The Clare Jordan Band, Amy Henderson and Tweed (Graeme Mackay, Duncan Farquhar and Martin Oparka). Fiddlers Bruce MacGregor, Jonny Hardie will be joined by Accordionist Cameron Kellow and maybe just be a certain Dougie Maclean. The Whisky River Band (is there a more appropriately named band to play), are looking forward to playing an acoustic set.
Stalwart, and ever reliable, Adrian Telfer will find a way of ensuring he shares his Highland Blues with the festival crowd. Highland Hotclub will be playing their eclectic style of Latin American, Blues Pop, Country etc.
Saltfishforty bring their “fresh and dynamic” live show off the back of their 3rd album “Netherbow” which was released last year. Described as “ a class act from start to finish” (Brian Ferguson) and as “an alchemic blend of superb musicianship and empathy, adding a fiery new force”
Last but not least multi instrumentalists Mairearad and Anna. Anna was BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year 2003 Award with a preference for fiddle, mandlin and banjo. Mairearad has received praise for her accordion style and her innovative compositions ,including writing the music for short story “Sea of Glass”.
