Dan Antopolski does not have the easiest name to say however as a comedian he should be an easy sell when he comes up to the Ironworks on the 25th of March. We are not sure wether he has officially changed his name to “Triple Perrier Nominated” Dan Antopolski, but it’s hard to escape the fact that he has indeed been nominated for the award a couple (sorry three) times. He has also been about a bit (in the nicest possible way, although we can not verify one way or the other about anything else) although has not done as much TV as is particularly fashionable for stand ups at the moment.
It would be fair to say that his profile has decreased a little since the last of his nominations although he does have a significant TV, Radio and Live show portfolio.
There has been a lot of love for Dan in the press with emphasis placed on his surreal nature The Observer would go so far as to say that he is the “Master of the surreal and natural heir to Bill Bailey…” , however looking for comparisons does not seem to do him any justice where emphasis had been laid on the originality of his talent and refreshingly his ability to take risks with comedy in a positive way.
If you are still not sure whether he is worth the ticket price, we will leave you with two thoughts:
The first is a quote from The Scotsman :”Antopolski is primus inter pares. If, as they say, a person’s sexiest feature is the mind, then Antopolski is one of Britain’s genuine comedy pin-ups. His dazzlingly intellectual set-pieces amaze.”
The second is a fact: Dan Antopolski has played Jesus twice and King Herod once.
