Glasgow’s genre-blending five-piece share shoegaze textures, cinematic influences, and festival reflections ahead of Belladrum’s 21st birthday bash
pedalo are a Glasgow-based Dreampop five-piece formed in 2022, blending shoegaze warmth with cinematic indie ambition. With sold-out shows across Scotland and festival appearances from King Tut’s to Tenement Trail, their rise has been fuelled by eclectic influences and a shared creative drive. Belladrum Festival 2025 marks a major milestone for a band whose momentum shows no sign of slowing.
Who are you, and how did this band come to life? We are pedalo. A five-piece Dreampop band based in Glasgow. We consist of Charlotte (vocals), Geddes (keys/vocals), Steel (guitar), Nick (bass), and Beth (drums/vocals). We formed over 3 years ago whilst studying music together at uni, and have been making noise ever since!

How would you describe your sound in a way that makes people want to listen? If someone loves Dreampop with shoegaze influence they should check us out.
For fans of…? If someone loves [insert relevant genre], why should they check you out? pedalo are for fans of Alvvays, Wolf Alice & Radiohead.
What’s the first song in your setlist, and why does it set the tone for your show? We kick off our set with Something Real, the opening track from our debut EP, Migration. Its dynamic arc—from a spacious, atmospheric intro to a powerful, soaring climax—makes it the perfect way to ease everyone into the set.
If you could steal one song from any act at Belladrum 2025 and claim it as your own, which one would it be? We are big fans of CMAT, if we could steal ‘Stay For Something’ that would make a great addition to the set.
Belladrum is turning 21 this year! What does it mean to be part of a festival that has built such a strong legacy? With some of us coming from the Highlands, Belladrum has always held a special place in our hearts—many of us have been attending the festival for years. Playing here truly feels like a bucket list moment, and we’re honoured to join the ranks of the Seedling Stage alumni.
What’s next for you in 2025? Any exciting plans for new music, touring, or collaborations? We’re heading straight back into the studio just a couple of weeks after returning from Belladrum. We’ve been putting in plenty of hours writing new material, and with another Glasgow headline show lined up in October, we’re feeling quietly confident as we look ahead to 2026.
Which new and/or local acts inspire you right now? There’s so much incredible new talent coming up in the Scottish music scene at the moment. We are feeling particularly excited by Redolent, Fairways and Dutch Wine.
If your music were the soundtrack to a movie, which genre would it fit best, and what kind of story would it tell? We’d love to take inspiration from Simple Minds and have our music featured in a coming of age movie set to be a modern classic.
Belladrum is known for its theatrical atmosphere. If you could perform inside a famous movie scene, which one would it be and why? Star Wars Mos Eisley Cantina band scene.
If your band were cast in a film, what kind of roles would each member play? We often joke that we fit well as the Mystery Inc gang. You can guess who you think is Scooby.
pedalo’s playful flair and cinematic sensibility make them a natural fit for Belladrum’s imaginative spirit. Their festival slot reflects years of hard graft, creative chemistry, and a sound that invites listeners to step into something real.
pedalo are on 4-40pm on Saturday at Belladrum 2025
