You have ten words to describe your act, no more no less…

Clattering Indie folk pop, controlled anarchy and very honest storytelling

As an act how how does it feel to be back post-COVID?

I don’t think it feels too real yet, so much has changed and happened, playing now almost seems like a new experience! And definitely an emotional one. I will never ever take for granted again the feeling of being in a room with human beings enjoying live music.

It’s an incredible irreplaceable energy. Its lovely to play again, but I also am obsessed with watching people in crowds now, watching them connect and have a good time, and sing and dance and relax – watching folk have a very deserved good evening of live music has made me do a discrete greet into my pint a couple times this year.

Given the myths and legends theme of Belladrum 2022, can you tell us a myth or legend of the band?

One particular myth which may or not be true is I once almost got accidentally abducted by Scouting for Girls at Belladrum one year. I had gone in to their parked tour bus for a cheeky look around, and minutes later, behind me, the whole band got on and the bus started moving! Adam our drummer had to jump in front of the tour bus as it pulled away, arms drunkenly waving to try stop them leaving with me on it!

It was all very dramatic, turns out the bus was just turning, not leaving, and I spilt a whole table of drinks over the band on my panicked run out. Sorry again Scouting for girls. But thanks Adam for your noble act of risking your life, jumping in front of a bus moving 1mph.

Which legend (non-musical!) would you have appear on stage with you and what song would you play with them?

Is it weird if I say David Attenborough and we’d probably do Islands in the Stream.

There have been a few musical legends play Belladrum over the years which performance would you most like the opportunity to see again?

Oh my goodness so so many legends! Generally It’s been incredible to see local Scottish musicians get the opportunity of a big stage, and these shows are particularly special to watch, and have been really inspiring for me throughout the years. Belladrum continues to bring the big acts in and include local musicians which is absolutely right and brilliant and i love them for it!

How are you preparing for your Belladrum performance, what are your plans after you have played?

We are preparing a few surprise covers for this year’s show! Think 00’s pop haha. And definitely can’t wait to enjoy some live music afterwards. Particularly it’s exciting to turn up to bands you haven’t heard before and discover something new. From an early age I’ve been coming to Belladrum and filling my playlists with exciting new bands and newly discovered old ones. Doing this has really informed my music taste over the years!

If your set only consisted of three songs and one extra cover, which ones would they be and why?

We have a song about the perils of dating apps called ‘Tinder’ – definitely sums us up quite well in a song!

Awol – a song written in revenge of an ex boyfriend, but generally for and in revenge of toxic ex’s everywhere which I love playing.

Blue Lights – our first single released! But watch this space for Ep coming soon.

Toxic by Britney Spears, it’s a tune, and you never know, maybe it will get an outing very soon

And a wee bit of festival madness…

Who’d win a fight between Nessie and Godzilla?

Nessie is a lover not a fighter, but would easily win in a dance battle (fight) with Godzilla in my opinion.

You’re out for a few drinks, what other artist that you know, would turn it in to a legendary night?

All the lads in the band Fidra, which I sing in, they are top banter. Also Chancers are great craic too! I don’t know KT Tunstall personally but she is my hero, and it is on a bucket list of mine to go on a night out with her.

Is Nessie real?

Of course.

What would you rather fight, a unicorn the size of Nessie or 20 unicorn sized Nessies?

20 unicorn sized Nessies, so I could eventually fight them yes, but hopefully charm them later and form a massive girl group.
