Lost in Rio have just released ‘Big City Incident’ the follow up to their debut single ‘Little Piece of Heaven’.

Andy Pearce of the band tells us “This is the same title as the planned album which is in essence a pseudo movie soundtrack and we will be releasing more tracks for this soon. It’s why we call cinematic funk, style – touch of Latin and Acid Jazz which is all about our sound but with a modern twist to it.  Think 70s cop show theme etc. The track was very fun to record and produce.”

Our view is that it is fun and it really hits the mark with the stateside 70s cop theme. Transported around the streets and alleyways in a Ford Gran Torino of a Bay City, a Starsky or a Hutch is never far away from this tune. A groove for Huggy Bear and a toe tapper for Captain Dobey. Before you set Petrocelli on us, other US cop series are available.

You can hear ‘Big City Incident for yourself.

Chartered surveyor by day, music reviewer by night, and occasionally I get to use my camera. A strange mix, but one that I enjoy. A chance meeting in the queue for Bella in 2010 led to the opportunity to write for InvernessGigs; a far cry from the days of writing for a football fanzine back in the late 80s, early 90s. My interests lie between the mainstream, the emerging and the local. Increasingly I find that we have more than enough locally to entertain us to necessitate a trip south. I’m always happy to give a listen, whatever the genre. Inverness has a plethora of talent, all of which I am more than keen to write about. If it encourages just one person to make the effort to listen to some new music I’ll be happy. You can contact Frank direct via frankieboyfin@gmail.com
