Kyle Falconer to play Ironworks Venue in August.
Following the release of his solo album ‘No Thank You’ Kyle Falconer takes to the stage at the Ironworks on 24th August. Better known as the frontman of Dundee’s The View Kyle is embarking on a solo tour with his new album under his belt.
The album is a seachange from his work with The View as it sees Kyle release an album, the title he got from Liam Gallagher, of very personal tracks covering aspects of his well documented battle with drink and the journey that has taken him to where he is now. Although the subject matter may suggest a somewhat morose set of songs the real feel is upbeat and summery.
The overarching feel of the album has music hall shades, and even Nashville with ‘Last Bus Home’; maybe one day we’ll see a production based on this work in the Caird Hall, it could be Dundee’s version of Sunshine on Leith. It’s an honest and open album where Kyle takes centre stage playing all the instruments with the exception of drums and percussion by Scott Duffy and strings by the Cairn Quartet, who Kyle and The View teamed up with at Belladrum in 2014.
The Herald says of the album ‘that it sounds unlike pretty much unlike anything else that will be released this year is more worthy of notice’ and Clash Magazine say ‘his long-awaited debut is packed with rich, uplifting songs.’
