Pop is dead, long live pop, The Ultimate Reunion brings together a selection pop act from the Nineties and Noughties to help relive those heady days.
Bursting onto the scene with ‘C’est la Vie’,B*Witched sold over three million, yes THREE MILLION!, albums. “We were bubblegum pop and we were happy, happy, happy”, said Keavy Lynch when recalling the rise and fall of the four piece that were once considered in the same context as Spice Girls, All Saint and Atomic Kitten. Perhaps unsurprisingly, a TV programme pulled the band together again. “It’s amazing, it really is an absolute dream, I can’t believe we get to do it all again, 18 years later. We’re so, so lucky”, said Keavey of the band’s opportunity to gig again. So bring the double denim and get ready to sing and dance.
From pure pop to Hip-Hop, Blazin’ Squad brought hits like “We Just Be Dreamin'” “Flip Reverse” and debut chart topper “Crossroads”. Originally a ten piece (although we are not sure how the numbers are now) they released four album on their original career if you include a Greatest hits and a reinvention under the Friday Hill moniker.
Dance is represented on The Ultimate Reunion by Phats & Small whose first track “Turn Around” earned them number 2 in the charts and in doing so was multi million selling.5 further top 20 hits followed. Vocalist, Ben Ofoedu reflecting on the band; “The way I see it is we’re just conduits for the music. Whether we’re doing our own stuff or covers we just transmit a vibe and want people to have a good time.”
The final act on the bill is the former model, Lolly who continues the bubble gum pop theme. Her hits include covers of ‘Mickey’ and ‘Girls Just Want To Have Fun’.
