We cast our eye over some of the emerging bands at Dundees’ Carnival Fifty Six and recommend our top 5.

With a festival boasting the likes of Rudimental, The Charlatans, Mark Ronson and The Fratellis we look at some of the acts ,in no particular order, that will equally entertain and impress at the Dundee festival;

Be Charlotte

Those in the the know, know. Those not in the know, will be knowing too. Our reviewer surmised so much when he caught the Dundee based act at Brew at the Bog 2016 by saying “If you want to be able to say ‘I saw them before they were famous’ and you’re generally into brilliant music then you should 100% see Be Charlotte this summer and every other chance you get.”

Catch Be Charlotte play the Mardi Gras, Main stage, at 430pm, Sunday

100 Fables

100Fables at XpoNorth 2017 8556  530x354 - 5 to watch at Carnival Fifty Six

The band boast elements of Paramore, Wendy James, Lene Lovich and Debbie Harry. Impressing at Belladrum 2017 they were proclaimed as “a bundle of energy with great chemistry and interplay throughout the set. It’s a whirlwind from start to finish lead by vocalist, Lyndsey Liora, who’s voice and raw energy fills the enlarged tent.”

100 Fables play Jam:Live at 4pm, Saturday.

PR/DES

Prides 17 530x353 - 5 to watch at Carnival Fifty Six

The Glasgow based synthpop trio formed in 2013, they  blend big synth sounds with powerful drumming and huge sing along chorus’ that have seen them play high profile events such as the Commonwealth Games. Expect banter, impressive stage show and this anthemic tunes.

PR/DES play Jam:Live at 10:10pm on Saturday.

Miracle Glass Company

Miracle Glass Company 4 at Belladrum 2017 530x354 - 5 to watch at Carnival Fifty Six

Miracle Glass Company boasts three singer song writers, each taking their turn to lead and you know with that concept you think about how the identity of the band might be challenged, but it works and works well. There’s a strong feel good vibe that comes with the band, with Vic Galloway describing their 2016 set at Belladrum as “a fucking masterclass”. We’re not going to disagree.

Miracle Glass Company play Discovery at 7pm on Saturday.

Crash Club
