King Creosote, with support from Siobhan Wilson, Between the Lines at Eden Court, 1/7/2016. Review and Photographs.
This was the second evening of a three night festival at Eden Court Theatre celebrating some of Scotland’s finest singer songwriters. I had noticed Siobhan posting that she was supporting King Creosote this evening.
For me it felt more like a double bill albeit weighted toward King Creosote. But, I have heard Siobhan silence rowdier venues than this in the past and the close to full One Touch Theatre is a terrific venue to present acts like this evenings duo. So, you really could have heard a pin drop during Siobhan’s set, she had the audiences full attention from start to finish.
I have never seen King Creosote solo before and apart from last year at Loopallu when he appeared in a frock and mask fronting Khartoum Heroes at Loopallu (check the pictures out here) , he has struck me as being quiet, reserved, a bit shy. I was pleasantly surprised at the warmth of his solo stage persona – he was witty, humorous, had a great rapport with the crowd and was of course musically quite brilliant. Now in it’s second year this is a great festival (read our review of last year’s event).
