I was given a ¾ size acoustic for my 8th birthday and at that point I didn’t really know what to do with it but over the next few years, I became very interested in learning how to play and write music.

In Australia last year, I played with lots of different people and that really opened my eyes to the idea of gigging and that seems like the next natural step forward.

If you are looking for a gig or trying to get someone to listen to your music , how do you describe it?

Very acoustic! It’s quite hard to describe it properly without a guitar at hand. Over the years, there have been loads of things changing around me and these are the things that influence the type of music I’m writing. It’s constantly evolving but it’s always acoustic!

What drives you in your music?

It’s dead hard to explain exactly what it is about something that fuels a passion. I love to play music with people, I love to play music myself, I love to see people who aren’t usually interested get involved and enjoy themselves! Music can be a very powerful thing

What are your hopes for your music career in 2015?

For 2015, I’m going to take performing a lot more seriously. Having been offered an opportunity like the Yule Gig, it’s easy to see that this is what makes me happy so pursuing other opportunities to play for people will be very near the top of the list of things to do next year.

How does it feel to be playing Strathpeffer Pavilion?

Playing in the Pavilion will be a totally new experience for me and I’m seriously looking forward to it!

Any other bands that you are looking forward to hearing at Yule Gig?

Well I know some of the guys from The Ragazzi and Autumn Sun so it’ll be interesting to hear what they’ve been up to!

Santa is feeling generous this year, what would you like?

Probably a guitar! Been borrowing guitars for a while now so I should probably make a plan to sort that out…. Or aye, if Santa’s feeling generous!

A lifelong passion for music matched with a geeky fascination for social media and websites resulted in the creation of Inverness Gigs back in 2010. The aim of the site is to help promote, support and generally raise awareness of the local music scene. In fairness fifteen years of being a psychiatric nurse never prepared me for the experiences that we have had over the last few years and the evolution of Inverness Gigs has certainly been a steep learning curve.I currently write (less and less), edit and co-ordinate most of the Inverness Gigs activities.Occasionally seen on Twitter, and  LinkedIn, if you want get in touch you can contact me via our Facebook page.
