Review of The New Piccadillys on the Garden stage at Belladrum, 9th of August, 2014.

The New Piccadillys 7 530x353 - You are my Sunshine
“they look great, they sound great”

The New Piccadillys are on far far to early for my liking, opening the Garden Stage on Saturday they are not going to show any sympathy to the hung-over, the tired or fans of The Voice.

They look great, they sound great, they know their way about the stage and they know their musical history inside and out. Take punk, rock and roll and add a bit of fab four inspired pop, set your clock at under three minutes a song and this set ticks along at a cracking pace.

I’m sure they are the reason that today the sun is shining and everything is good in Bellaland.

Life-long engagement with music and a truly eclectic taste (although prog-rock and metal will usually have me scrambling for the off button). If pushed, I would have to say the Velvet Underground are one of the most important band’s of all time. Although I consider myself first and foremost a photographer, as regards reviewing I guess I cut my teeth in the vibrant fanzine scene of the 80’s. Around the same time I started taking photographs and, to be brief, performance and photography were made for each other: perfect match.
