Chris Clavin (of Ghost Mice), Turtle Lamone and Eilidh Bryers play Velocity Cafe in September.
From Indiana, Chris Clavin is a musician, author and co-founder of Plan-It-X Records (have a look at their website for an inspiring ethos on music).
Chris is one half of folk-punk group Ghost Mice who turned their backs on electric instruments playing without mics and amplification, the result has been a building fan base stateside.
The night will see him play his own songs as well as Ghost Mice material, he will also be reading from his book ‘Free Pizza For Life’ which is about his role and experiences with Plan-It-X Records.
He will be joined by Turtle Lamone who has been described as being like “Elton John covering the Menzingers”.
He states; “I play piano and sing songs about existential crisis, and the pains of growing up in a cruel world which slowly crushes your dreams and fills you with self doubt.” Upbeat stuff then.
“While he does run his voice to the ragged end in true punk fashion a few times” Jesse Lamone of blog The 1st Five adds he ” mostly he keeps his voice in a smooth range, which plays beautifully over his piano work.”
Completing the bill will be Black Isler Eilidh Bryers a singer/songwriter from Inverness who released debut EP ‘Islands’ in April. She was last seen in the area playing the Free Range Stage at Belladrum.
