Emerging from Karma

Emerge are to host a night of electronic music on Saturday August 23rd at Karma Lounge in Inverness.

The Highland based  weekly radio show and podcast , hosted by Steve Robertson and Stuart Thain, was set up earlier this year.  Steve explains “The show was set up in March with the goal of giving much needed airplay to emerging artists and since that time we have played artists of different genres from all over Scotland as well England, USA, Lanzarote and Romania”.

The idea of a night at Karma Lounge came from Steve’s admiration of Electronica; ““I’ve had a huge love of electronic music dating all the way back to hearing Orbital’s set at Glastonbury 94 on Radio 1 when I was a teenager and been lucky enough to work on some big dance events” from that it was easy to convince Karma Lounge to allow them to host an evening as a way to support their efforts to build on the local DJ/producer scene.

If you want to be part of the night, Emerge is putting out the call for emerging Highland based producer/DJs  to send tracks and/or mixes to emergeradioshow@gmail.com by Sunday July 13th (you must be over 18 to submit). The line up will be announced shortly after applications close.

A lifelong passion for music matched with a geeky fascination for social media and websites resulted in the creation of Inverness Gigs back in 2010. The aim of the site is to help promote, support and generally raise awareness of the local music scene. In fairness fifteen years of being a psychiatric nurse never prepared me for the experiences that we have had over the last few years and the evolution of Inverness Gigs has certainly been a steep learning curve.I currently write (less and less), edit and co-ordinate most of the Inverness Gigs activities.Occasionally seen on Twitter, and  LinkedIn, if you want get in touch you can contact me via our Facebook page.
