rhythmnreel keeps you warm

This is as good as it gets. Indoors warm and cosy, food!, a well staffed cheery bar, a Hogmanay crowd in fine spirits and the mighty rhythmnreel on top form. This was a fine way to welcome in the New Year and bid adieu to 2013 – the Ironworks has hosted some spectacular nights in the last year and Inverness has a lot to look forward to entertainment wise this coming year.

I have caught Rhythmnreel three times during 2013, the other events being Belladrum and Loopallu, a band who are consistent, dynamic, always entertaining and play with a smile on their faces – they never fail to deliver the goods. By the end of this gig they have their full first team on stage and a very, very happy crowd.

Life-long engagement with music and a truly eclectic taste (although prog-rock and metal will usually have me scrambling for the off button). If pushed, I would have to say the Velvet Underground are one of the most important band’s of all time. Although I consider myself first and foremost a photographer, as regards reviewing I guess I cut my teeth in the vibrant fanzine scene of the 80’s. Around the same time I started taking photographs and, to be brief, performance and photography were made for each other: perfect match.
