From the 26th January 2014 to the 23rd February 2014, Eden Court will host the first Inverness Gigs Photography Exhibition sponsored by mi inverness.
The exhibition draws from the Inverness Gigs archives and charts the development of the music scene since the website started in 2010.
We are pleased to have one of the images from the photo shoot of Emma Mitchell (nee Shearer) in the exhibition, which was part of our Face of Inverness Gigs project in our inaugural year. Our most current images in the event are shots from the poignant Clutha Fundraising event held at Hootananny in January 2014.
Of course we make no qualms of our support of local acts and the exhibition will host varied photographs from the local scene with an eclectic collection of acts including The Oxides,Them & Us and Stetsonshead. Local festivals also play an important role in the exhibition, among the festivals featured are Rockness, BFest, MV Festival, Loopallu and Jocktoberfest.
In addition to placing emphasis on the local music scene, we are also keen to acknowledge the roles of our contributors, both our photographers and writers through the exhibition. Added to the images provided by our photographers, will be competition winner Ross Elder who won our competition, held last year, to find the area’s best amateur gig photographs. As well as displaying his photographs at the Eden Court, he will also receive a pass to catch the action at the Seedling Stage at Belladrum 2014.
We would like to thank everybody involved in their support of this ambitious project including mi inverness, Inverness College UHI, Belladrum Festival, Red Elk, Matt Sillars, Brian Vass, Brian McIntosh, Alastair Cunningham, Thomas Bisset, Roddy McKenzie, Stephen Bull, Frank Finlayson , Chris Milne, Danielle Wilson, Toby Stainton, Steve Robertson, Kirsteen Lemon, Jim Neville, Mark Lomax, Marianne McIntosh and Mark Allison.
We would love to see you all at the exhibition, so if you are in the area please pop in.
