Tammy Miller – Let it Go EP Review

Hailing from the Scottish Borders Tammy Miller releases her debut 3 track EP, Let It Go, a little further north at the Kingswood Hotel in Burntisland this Friday (10th October).

Tammy caught the attention of many at the beginning of the year when she played three sets at the MV festival in Aviemore, and the release has been awaited with interest.

At just over 10 minutes in length it is a relatively short set of songs, but this is more than made up in the depth of quality. ‘Let It Go’ doesn’t mess about when it comes to introducing Tammy’s vocal. There is a depth and warmth, akin to that of a Taylor Swift, which acts as a contrast to what is, along with the other songs on the EP, a fairly melancholy tale tinged with some youthful angst.

The guitar accompaniment is light without impacting too strongly on the vocal. This theme runs throughout the EP putting emphasis on the voice. Lyrically the tracks are cleverly put together especially ‘Broken Fairytales’ with its numerous references to childhood stories. It is done neatly without drawing anything away from the song.

Overall this is a good little debut. It ticks a lot of boxes and is a fine, if all too short, introduction to the career of Tammy Miller.
