Roll, Roll Up For The Carnivale

Carnivale, the singer song writer showcase hosted at The Bothy, Hootananny, moves to a weekly slot for July and August.

The format has been running since November and is influenced by the concept championed by The Bedford in London. Previous Carnivale nights have seen the likes of Miss Irenie Rose, Meeshelle, Iain McLaughlin and Gorman take to the stage.

Music programmer Steve Robertson said “It’s fantastic that Carnivale is making the step from a monthly acoustic night to a weekly night for the summer, our July program features some more established local names such as Iain McLaughlin and Rory Baldwin whilst also casting a light on younger acts such as Emily Mackinnon and Hannah Finlayson whilst bringing acts from outside the area such as Iain Macdonald from the Isle of Lewis and Nathan Mellis originally from Inverness now living in Aberdeen.”

A lifelong passion for music matched with a geeky fascination for social media and websites resulted in the creation of Inverness Gigs back in 2010. The aim of the site is to help promote, support and generally raise awareness of the local music scene. In fairness fifteen years of being a psychiatric nurse never prepared me for the experiences that we have had over the last few years and the evolution of Inverness Gigs has certainly been a steep learning curve.I currently write (less and less), edit and co-ordinate most of the Inverness Gigs activities.Occasionally seen on Twitter, and  LinkedIn, if you want get in touch you can contact me via our Facebook page.
