Belladrum 2013 and Tomatin Distillery are looking for an artist or a collaboration of artists to design and build an artwork piece using the whisky casks for display at the festival.
Belladrum has throughout it’s ten years had very close ties with the all forms of art, from poster design to iconic sculptures. Following in these foot steps the festival are launching a public call to artists/sculptors/makers/designers to submit ideas/designs for the creation of a news piece of art to be installed at the festival using up to 30 whisky casks donated by festival supporter, Tomatin Distillery.
Jennifer Nicol , Marketing Manager for the distillery, said “As the official whisky brand of Belladrum, we wanted to do something a bit different to mark ten years of this fantastic festival. Casks and wood management are paramount for us in producing our quality whisky, so it’s fitting that are they are at the heart of this competition. We are excited to see the entries and look forward to appreciating the final design in years to come!” .
The aim of the piece is to “engage, inspire and amaze the public and create a lasting memory” although expectations from that are wide open in that it can have a practical use, involve other mediums and relate to the festival theme or not as per the artist wishes.
Artists are being asked to register their interest in taking part using the on-line form which can be found at www.tartanheartfestival.co.uk with the deadline for submissions is 30th April 2013.
