Singer songwriter Kate Nash will visit the Ironworks on the 13th of April in support of her new album ‘Girl Talk’ which is due to be released in March on Fiction records.

She’s probably best remembered for the irritatingly catchy single ‘Foundations’ from her debut album ‘Made of Bricks’ released back in 2007. Despite the Independent labelling it as being in ‘pole position for the worst album of the year’ it was reasonably successful and got to Number 1 in the UK charts and went Gold in Germany.

Kate has used a bass guitar to write songs for the first time on the upcoming album and judging by last years ‘Death Proof’ EP we should expect to hear a fairly radical departure in sound from her first two albums. Although the affected mockney vocals are mostly gone her scathing sarcasm is still ever present and there’s a jagged riot grrrl (remember them?!) edge to the new material. It couldn’t be further from her indie pop beginnings and I suspect anyone going along to the Ironworks in April to see her may be in for a pleasant surprise.

The 22-date ‘Faster Pussycat Run Run’ tour will visit the Ironworks on the 13th of April but if you miss here there you can catch her in Glasgow at the Oran Mor on the 14th or in Aberdeen’s Lemon Tree on the 12th.
Think Bikini Kill and Sleater Kinney with a hint of the Lunachicks and the Dead Kennedy’s guitar sound… it could be a good evening!

Tickets available via www.IronworksVenue.com from 18th of Jan.

I've always loved music and spent my late teens and early twenties playing guitar in various bands on Lewis and Aberdeen. Other than playing in some truly terrifying pubs in Aberdeen not much came of it and life became focused on family and having a 'proper' job. Inverness Gigs is an outlet for me to quell my inner frustrated musician and the caliber of local acts has even inspired me to take my own music more seriously again. Who knows, one day I might venture back on stage under the fierce scrutiny of an Inverness Gigs reviewer! You can contact Toby direct at Toby@Igi.gs
