Toecutter talk to Inverness Gigs about their forthcoming debut, at Mad Hatters on the 8th of November, with new frontman Dean Kernaghan.
Last time Toecutter played live it was for the Summer Showcase in August at that time the performance drew similarities with System of a Down and Sepultura, days afterwards it was announced that Tim Latham had left the band.
Fast forward a few weeks and the band had found a new front-man Dean Kernaghan, and all systems are go again. Kernaghan, of course has form in the genre, having played in the heavily touted Messiane or as the boys from Toecutter describe “(he) is used to getting into heavy tunage”. However, it is clear on speaking to the band, that Kernaghan brings a different “heavier dimension” the impact of which the bands explains “allows the band to grow more melodically diverse”. The band add “He brings extreme energy and stage presence in live shows… and he is a very punctual young lad”.
It is fair to say that there is a good bit of anticipation for the forthcoming gig “We can not wait to tear the arse off Inverness and the audience” ultimately they are confident that the new line up will go down well “we think the Ness heavy scene is gonna love it!!” Indeed the gig will be the first opportunity for fans of the band to hear the new sound, and with the new sound also comes the debut of new material which will be showcased at the gig. As for the other acts on the bill of the bill of the Metal Mash, Desecrator and Fallen Riot, “We’ve heard great things about both acts and are looking forward to getting smashed”.
After the gig the plan is simple “Get new tracks recorded and out into the masses and blaze as many gigs as we can!!”. So that mean a trip to the studio (Strathsound) on the 10th of November and they are looking forward to hearing the result, they are promising one thing “(it) WILL BE HEAVY AS SHIT!!!!!!!!!!”
Toecutter will be playing the Madhatters Metal Mash on the 8th of November at Mad Hatters, doors 9pm.
