The 28th of September sees the 2nd Netsounds Unsigned Takeover night at Mad Hatters, featuring Cherri Fosphate and Sienna Lights.
It’s takeover night again at Mad Hatters when the Netsound boys follow on from the success of their first Takeover club night when 76 Knots and Penguins Kill Polar Bears lifted the roof off. Building on this triumphant opening night they return with a second session of mayhem with three top acts.
Sienna Lights, the four, and sometimes five, piece fronted by Graham Brown, add the local flavour to the night. Sienna Lights is the latest step in the evolution of Graham Brown as he matures from early solo sets and short lived outings with Midnight Glory. The band are firmly establishing themselves with their catchily accessible songs, and give Graeme a more rounded sound from which to launch his band onwards and upwards. Sienna Lights are also turning the night into their EP launch. Try before you buy? Want to hear more? Then check out a version of Believing with that crazy cat KRTS here:
Also on the bill is Cherri Fosphate. They are no strangers to the north having picked up the plaudits at a Netsounds Unsigned night at the start of the year followed by a slot at Brew at the Bog in early May. Yes, it was May even if it felt like January! The hit the radar again locally when they played the GoNorth Seedlings tent at Belladrum in August, when it really felt like August! Cherri Fosphate, as well as gathering a fair few followers along the way, continue to produce really edgy indie rock with the knack of getting their audience involved. Another band worth investing your time in. Check out this neat little FREE EP on bandcamp:
All this and a special guest DJ set to take you through to 3 in the morning! End of the month. Pay day. Do you really need an excuse?
(Previously announced on the bill was Waiting on Jack who have had to cancel, but have promised to return soon)
