Week two of the Battle of the Bands at The Eagle continues on Wednesday the 12th of September.
Last week saw The Ragazzi wan through to the final round of the competition to win a 3 day recording session at Strathsound. This week takes a different turn with the emphasis being on the acoustic with singer-songwriters dominating.
First out of the blocks will be Roads to Damascus normally a five piece rock band they will be bringing a three piece version (RTD Lite they refer to it as) of their tunes to the competition. They describe their aim as “Weaving lyrical melody with melodic lyrics through a gamut of emotions whilst maintaining memorable hooks is top priority.”
Next will be All Hat No Cat aka duo Adrian Telfer and Lucy Griffin. Fresh off their performance at Jocktoberfest 2012, Adrian was on the line-up of the first Summer Showcase this year, interviewed prior to the appearance he promised “Look out for laughs and tears as I take a trip down my set list. My songs have grown from life love and loss.” Noting to suggest we won’t get the same again when he plays and maybe an obscure cover or two…
Emma Mitchell is third on the bill, well known on the acoustic scene in a number of guises (and all former face of Inverness Gigs). The combination of songs with emotional depth and the strength of voice, provides a heady mix.
Finishing the night will be Dougie Burns one half of Blues duo Bluebelly, his tales charm and engage even an eclectic crowd. Frank Finlayson noted when he saw him play at the Ironworks : “ Dougie is a bluesman, but this wasn’t lost with the indie kids, who sung along to his tunes, taking in his little stories he weaved between songs”.
All acts are subject to change, you can keep track of any amendments on the events page.
