James Mackenzie is heading up a bit of a musical extravaganza on Sunday 20th May, and not at the usual late night slot either. If you fancy a few beers or drams (or both) in the afternoon James will be appearing alongside Red Ronson and Gorman from 3 o’clock.

James has been a very busy man this year, playing in a variety of venues locally including Eden Court as support to Gallagher and Lyle, and an evening set in HMV in the Eastgate Centre. He even took time out to go round the local secondary schools (all above board before you ask!) to play lunchtime gigs to the students. Twitter currently places him in London as the well-travelled troubadour rubs shoulders with the like of Wagner (courtesy of one of his tweets!). Pick up his Curtain Road EP to find out what you are missing.

Red Ronson have been off my radar recently, a support slot to The French Wives at Hootananny, at the end of February was preceded by an impromptu support slot to Iain MacLaughlin a couple of nights before at the Market Bar. The are probably best remembered recently for a promising opening set at the Ironworks Winter Showcase where they kicked the night of for the eight acts on the bill.

The third act listed is Chris Gorman from Glasgow’s Gorman. Describing themselves on their Facebook page as “the UK’s premiere piano-led, melancholic, ambient, post-indie rock outfit”, they are another act worthy of your Sunday afternoon attention. Chris will be playing a solo set,

With the promise of further special guests, we are sure it will be a great way to spend your Sunday afternoons.

James will be playing the Market Bar on the 20th of May, but before that he will be supporting Roddy Woomble on the 16th of May and playing Hootananny on the 19th of May.
