The Aberdeen band make their first venture up to Inverness, so we thought we better have a word or two….

Can you tell us about your recently released mini-album “What Makes Life Better”?

We are very happy with the successful release of What Makes Life Better. We took a big gamble and change in the style of our music, as it took a big step in our maturity as a band. Our writing, playing and thoughts to our music had changed since our debut EP and we felt it was time to step in the right direction. The album itself is based on going through negative situations and coming out with a positive vibe, which we think displays our new darker pop punk/rock vibe.

How happy are you with the self defined “pop-punk” genre?

Autumn In Disguise itself is made up of so many different sounds because of each of our own preferences to music. Gonnella can be the most metal loving guy, with Napz a strong pop punk lover, Scott likes his Muse and Biffy, so when we all come together it give us our new exciting sound. Pop Punk will always be a strong influence of ours. Our Live show speaks for itself, displaying a very energetic and crowd involving show which is very true to Pop Punk roots, however we are always interested in experimenting in our writing and looking for new ways to ignite a song.

Having played a great list of festivals, including Download, T in the Park and Sonisphere, is there a festival performance that stands out?

Without a doubt for us T In The Park had by far the most effect on us. It was the only Scottish Festival out of them all we played last year, so it felt like coming home. The tent was the biggest on the Festival Tour and we somehow managed to fill it pretty well, despite being the first band on of the weekend and the majority of our fans tweeting us afterward saying they were stuck in the queues! We would love the opportunity to play a Scottish Festival again.

Are you looking forward to playing your debut Inverness gig?

We can’t wait to come and play Inverness! Being our first time, we are keen to reach out to as many people North of our hometown of Aberdeen as possible!

Playing many shows around Scotland, we would love Inverness to become a regular date on any of our Tours. We are looking forward to having a lot of fun at Nova Bar.

How would you convince folk to come and see you?

The show at Nova Bar will be a fun and exciting event. Our set will have something for everyone on the night, bringing together both an energetic and passionate display. We have done some homework and asked some great local Inverness bands to support, making this a key date on our Scottish Headline shows.

What is the track, of yours, that best defines you guys as a band and why?

It would have to be a toss up between both “Let’s Call This A Home Run” and “What Makes Life Taste Better”. We made videos for both songs because they are very key to our band. They both hold the same meaning and feeling of coming out of negatives with positives. There is a definite display of taking the best out of life and looking towards better things. We have a lot of fun playing music in Autumn In Disguise, so it’s only fitting that we play music that shows that.
What’s on the agenda for the rest of the year?

We have just released our new music video for “What Makes Life Taste Better.”  (see above) We have some exciting things happening for 2012. Some Festival dates could be on the cards and we will be announcing a full UK Tour in the next few months with a great band. We will also start writing our new album very soon and looking at European Tour dates later this year. We want to do as much as we can, enjoying ourselves and pushing to show that a small band from a city in the North of Scotland can do things. So check us out online and keep in touch because there’s lots going on!

Autumn in Disguise will be supported by Purple Divide and Last Summer Effect. (early gig 7pm – 10 pm)

Tickets priced £4 are available via Nova or please email management@lastsummereffect.co.uk

A lifelong passion for music matched with a geeky fascination for social media and websites resulted in the creation of Inverness Gigs back in 2010. The aim of the site is to help promote, support and generally raise awareness of the local music scene. In fairness fifteen years of being a psychiatric nurse never prepared me for the experiences that we have had over the last few years and the evolution of Inverness Gigs has certainly been a steep learning curve.I currently write (less and less), edit and co-ordinate most of the Inverness Gigs activities.Occasionally seen on Twitter, and  LinkedIn, if you want get in touch you can contact me via our Facebook page.
