RockNess 2012 filled us with anxiety and in trepidation, no longer. In what can only be described as an incredible line up of headliners. The count down is on!
The announced headliners are Mumford and Sons, Deadmau5, Justice, Biffy Clyro and Ed Sheeran.
No strangers to the Highlands after the chaos and triumph of last year. Their adventures have taken them from the festival fields of Europe, to impromptu parks on the Railroad Revival Tour in America. Their debut album ‘Sigh No More’ has of course gathered up Grammy’s, Brits and a Mercury Prize. On the cusp of a new album and with an electrifying live show, the shores of Rockness await.
A paradigm shift of genres, and a step back to the roots of Rockness sees the intense and inspiring DEADMAU5. Renowned for shaking his er enormodomes across the planet, the Grammy-nominated, Billboard-topping superstar DJ and producer is seriously hot property.
Biffy Clyro, “top of their game” is probably an understatement. Last seen at Rockness in 2009, the gap have seen the bands stature continue to grow, bringing with them their trademark thumping guitar riffage and soaring vocals.A follow up to platinum selling albums ‘Puzzle’ and ‘Only Revolutions’ is well underway,
Speaking about the announcement, Simon Neil, Ben Johnston and James Johnston of Biffy Clyro said ”We are thrilled to be returning to RockNess in June, and this time we’ll be headlining. The location is amazing and the enthusiastic crowd made for a memorable experience in 2009, so we’re counting down the days until our return in 2012.”
ED SHEERAN’s rise to the top has been stratospheric .A triple platinum album, three sold out tours and a clutch of award wins and nominations – including four that sees him leading the way at this year’s Brit Awards. A fantastic signing last year for Belladrum 2011, this year a bigger platform awaits, although we suspect that he will remain in a tent.
Completing the current headline slots, for now (yes we only counted 5 too!!) is one of the most requested acts from the Rockness audience,Gaspard Auge and Xavier de Rosnay, aka Justice. The French duo will bring an added dimension to Rockness……
