Steve Robertson who started the year behind the scenes and has very much come to the front with KOBI. So it was always going to be interesting to see what he thought of 2011….
, What’s your involvement in the music scene?
Booking Assistant for Ironworks, Music Programmer for Hootananny, Gonorth Logistics Manager and a member of the booking team for Belladrum Festival, also manager for Iain McLaughlin & The Outsiders, James Mackenzie and proud member of KOBI.
What was the best local act this year. and why?
I’m pretty biased towards the acts I am involved in but outside of that I’ve been impressed by Whisky River Band and Megan Blyth.
What was the best non-local act you have seen this year?
4, I most really enjoyed Woodenbox and Vintage Trouble at Ironworks and thought Phantom Band were great at Hoots at the start of the year as well.
What was your favourite music experience this year?
Favourite music experience was the Summer Showcase at Ironworks felt like it took the whole scene forward in terms of community and built a lot of bridges.
What do you want from Santa?
More time in the day.
What’s your hopes for the music scene in 2012?
Hoping that scene continues to grow and people realise it’s a lot healthier than the Downtown USA days that I’ve seen people reference as of late, would be fantastic to see likes of Zombie Militia continue to grow respect in the UK metal scene and hopefully some of the great singer/songwriters we have will pick up some publishing deals
What are your plans for 2012?
We will hopefully follow up on the Summer and Winter showcases at Ironworks and I’m excited about names such as Black Stone Cherry, Rizzle Kicks and Thin Lizzy coming to the venue along with some fantastic acts at Mad Hatters such as Dead Boy Robotic, PAWS, Parmaviolets and Bombskare.
Got anything to plug?
Expect an acoustic mini-album from James Mackenzie in early 2012 and the debut album of Iain McLaughlin & The Outsiders also in early 2012, going to be putting out a KOBI release hopefully before the summer as well.
Thanks to Steve Robertson for his time
