Jim from Rhythmnreel reviews August for the band and looks forward to Loopallu and beyond…
Hi boys and girls, its more than halfway through Rhythmnreel’s diary of 2011.
August is a busy month for most bands and same for us. We started off the month at Belladrum singing our “folk songs” see Efestivals site, ha ha. Belladrum is one our favourite gigs of the year – to hear the massed choir of lovely punters singing along to our songs is just fantastic, really special. Thanks.
I must say the remainder of the month has been great too, the following weekend we managed a busy wedding of folk from the Islands – with all that that entails, a joint fundraiser with The Frues see here and a wee trip out to Kyleakin for their annual marquee gala dance – what a night!
There was no let up and the following weekend we were out in Nairn, for a celebration, and then Helmsdale for another big gala dance. The month finished with another festival trip, this time to Wizard over by Aberdeen. A compact arena with a great line-up over the weekend both of big acts – Stranglers, Magic Numbers and Jon Fratelli as well as a load of up and coming bands from Inverness it is worth keeping an eye on this festival. We are all converts!
The new merchandise remains a hit with folk – I think we are close to running out of some T-shirts sizes. This is a one off logo and won’t be repeated. When they’re gone they’re gone, the online shop is here.
How about some shameless advertising… if you work in an office and are planning your Christmas party, have a think about Colyumbridge Hilton Party Nights – dinner, party with yours truly, a great DJ and overnight accommodation and breakfast. Not that we’re biased but we love these party nights!
Our best news is for last… we have been rehearsing some more home grown songs, the first of which will be unveiled at Loopallu. Exciting times!
