Please support invernessGiGs

A few weeks ago we thought it might be a good idea to raise some funds for invernessGiGs. You may have seen the advert floating around the site.

After a valiant effort from Houdi (friend and photographer for the site) which saw him banned from posting links on Facebook for 15 days and having identified a new nick name for himself, Postspam Pat, we thought we might answer a few questions about the fund raising…

Don’t you make enough money from invernessGiGs?

Erm, er, no!  In fairness we make a few quid from Google Adverts and occasional local advert but really we are talking tens of pounds. The money made from the Sponsume fund raiser will be put back into the site.

So what’s the money for?

There are a number of things that we are needing: some are related to the website and increasing functionality, some are hardware related such as sound recorders, memory sticks and camera gear, some are related to out volunteer contributors who we would love to be able to compensate by means of petrol money and perhaps a pint and the final things is to look at some more promotions.

Why should I bother?

We are very aware that apathy is one of the biggest dangers in the music scene in the area (just as the folk at Ceol-Mor), but if you are reading this then you are interested in the music scene and you are interested in invernessGiGs

How much are you after?

To be perfectly honest we are looking for support and the financial side is secondary, to that ends the opening donation is £3.10 (the price of a pint) with a range of additional donation points after that.

So if you don’t get money invernessGiGs is finishing?

No, absolutely not.

Any other questions please do not hesitate to contact us admin@invernessGiGs.co.uk and of course the Sponsume link is here.

Oh and before I go on to the next invernessGiGs related text, thank you very much to the folk that have already donated, it means loads to us, thanks.

A notefrom the editor

Support live music in Inverness by supporting IGigs! For over 10 years, IGigs has been showcasing the best of the local music scene through previews, reviews, photographs, and more. But maintaining the website incurs costs, and your support can help keep this invaluable resource alive.

A lifelong passion for music matched with a geeky fascination for social media and websites resulted in the creation of Inverness Gigs back in 2010. The aim of the site is to help promote, support and generally raise awareness of the local music scene. In fairness fifteen years of being a psychiatric nurse never prepared me for the experiences that we have had over the last few years and the evolution of Inverness Gigs has certainly been a steep learning curve.I currently write (less and less), edit and co-ordinate most of the Inverness Gigs activities.Occasionally seen on Twitter, and  LinkedIn, if you want get in touch you can contact me via our Facebook page.
