Friday the 8th of August sees what is described by Ceol-Mor as “the biggest nights we’ve put on since we started ‘Stand-Out-Stand-Up’”. Celebrating the Scottish Open coming to town (really we did not notice lol).
Headlining will be Michael Redmond (you’ll know him from Father Ted, FNL / Saturday Live and as a regular host at the Stand) is without a doubt, the model Deadpan Comic – clearly born to deliver expressionless, but truly hilarious material. If you’ve not seen this comic, you’d be well advised to get along to this gig – he has absolutely fantastic timing and the hangdog expression that comes with it will readily bring smiles and laughs – a genuine steal for Ceol-Mor.
Also on the bill is Bruce Fummey who, it is fair to seems to be everywhere we turn (3 performances in 2 weeks in Inverness) and the local press seem to love him too. Last seen by us taking compere duties at Hush, it will be interesting to see the difference in his performances as he shifts from host to one of the acts. Certainly he is very personable, not afraid to have a laugh at himself and give a history lesson or two..
Compere for the evening is Gus Lymburn, a veteran of six years on the comedy scene in Scotland.A man who has suffered for his art, cracking a rib on stage after a mock fight went a awry. The Stand describe him as equally charming and disturbing, just keep an eye open for the whipped cream….

The Ceol-Mor still offer the cheapest comedy in town (£5 on the door) by a country mile but don’t ever mistake cheapness for lack of quality.Comedy starts at 830pm
